Ham United and Bolton Wanderers players wait for the police to clear
the pitch of spectators and allow the FA Cup final to kick off after a
45 minute delay. The newly completed Wembley stadium is host to the FA
Cup final for the first time and although the stadium's capacity is said
to be 127,000 the match is massively over attended and police allow
fans to watch from the sidelines.
28th April 1923:
Players leap for the ball during the FA Cup Final between Bolton
Wanderers and West Ham United, the first held at the newly completed
Wembley Stadium, which Bolton went on to win 2-0.
28th April 1923:
Bolton Wanderers team captain Joe Smith holds the FA Cup trophy outside
the stadium after the match. Bolton Wanders beat West Ham United 2-0 in
the first FA Cup final to be held at the newly completed Wembley
Stadium.
